The OPSEC Awareness for Military Members, DOD Employees and Contractors GS130.16 is a web-based course aimed at educating members of the U.S. military, Department of Defense (DOD) civilian employees, contractors, and other government-affiliated personnel on Operations Security (OPSEC).
The course takes approximately 25 minutes to complete and focuses on defining OPSEC, identifying critical information, describing the OPSEC process, recognizing indicators that might lead adversaries to discover critical information, and applying countermeasures to protect this information.
There are no clearance or attendance requirements, but to successfully complete the course, students must score at least 75 percent on the final knowledge check.
The course is part of the National Industrial Security Program and may be associated with professional development units. There are no prerequisites for taking the course.
