Which Incident Type requires regional or national resources with up to 200 personnel per operational period?
Answer
Type 2 Incident.
A Type 2 incident is beyond the capability of a local government to manage, command, and staff. To effectively manage the operations, command, and general staffing of a Type 2 event, resources outside the area may be required.
All of the command and general staff jobs are taken. A written IAP is required for each operational period. Many of the functional units are necessary and manned. Operations personnel usually number no more than 200 per operational time frame, with total incident personnel never exceeding 500 (guidelines only). The agency administrator is in charge of analyzing the incident’s complexity, giving administration briefings, and drafting a formal authorization document.
