Answer
The staging area is used to temporarily position and account for personnel, supplies, and equipment awaiting assignment. This area is also used as a control point to track personnel and equipment moving in and out of the incident. The Staging Area Manager is responsible for the safety and welfare of all personnel assigned to the Staging Area.
All resources must check in with the Staging Area Manager when they arrive and check out when they are released from the Staging Area. The Staging Area Manager maintains situational awareness of all resources within the Staging Area and ensures that only those resources authorized by the Incident Commander are dispatched to the incident.
The following items must be accounted for in the Staging Area:
- Personnel
- Equipment
- Supplies
- Communications
- Information Management
- Safety
Staging Areas – temporarily position and account for personnel, supplies, and equipment awaiting assignment.
