About The PTCB
The Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) is a computer-based exam with 90 multiple-choice questions, 80 of which are scored and 10 are unscored.
The PTCE passing score is 1400 or above, with a score range between 1000 and 1600. A panel of content experts determined it using the modified Angoff method.
Candidates who do not pass the exam can retake it after 60 days for their second and third attempts, with specific requirements if they do not pass after four attempts.
Pharmacy technicians aiming to earn the Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential must pass this exam to demonstrate their knowledge in medication safety and effective patient care across various pharmacy settings.
The PTCE is administered at testing facilities nationwide. Candidates can schedule their exam appointments through their PTCB Account or by contacting Pearson VUE directly.
